Cannonball Charity Challenge for Andrew Porter Ltd

A team from Adlington-based removals, storage and logistics firm, Andrew Porter Ltd, is taking part in a charity Cannonball Run across Europe.

Company founder Andrew Porter and managing director Tim Aspey are aiming to raise £10,000, through sponsorship and a charity auction for BuildAid, by completing the 800-mile drive.  The route begins in Bergamo, Italy, and ends in Budapest, Hungary, passing through Austria, Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The five-day event in June is organised by one of Andrew Porter Ltd's principle furniture logistics customers, Morris Furniture Group.

Founded in 2005 following the 2004 South East Asia tsunami, Build Aid is a UK registered charity which has evolved into funding rebuilding projects worldwide by providing construction aid, pro-bono professional advice and construction management of projects undertaken by community groups, non-profit making organisations and government departments.

Managing director, Tim Aspey said: "We are travelling on some of the most famous driving routes across Europe for five days - two of which we will be in fancy dress - so we hope people will give generously and support us. As logistics specialists we are hoping that our skills will ensure we finish the course!"
