House buyers looking to move during the summer holidays are being urged to book their removals firm early to avoid disappointment at their busiest time of year.
The six week summer break is the most popular time of year to move home and residents are being urged to plan ahead and avoid leaving bookings until the last minute.
Tim Aspey, managing director of Chorley-based removals, storage and logistics firm, Andrew Porter Limited, said their enquiries for removals and storage have risen by 20% over recent weeks and they are expecting even more bookings now that schools have broken up.
"Moving house is obviously a busy time and people often put off tasks such as booking their removal company," Tim said.
"People think that because the housing market is slow, they will have no problem securing their preferred removal firm on the date they want to move, but this is far from the case over the busy summer period.
"It can be very disruptive to have to change your moving date when everything is arranged, so we are reminding customers to book their removals and storage early so they can relax and concentrate on making plans for their new home."
Many people see summer as the ideal time to move. It is the least disruptive time for parents who have children in school and for people working in education. Additionally, many graduates move at this time of year to begin new careers.
Tim continued: "We take on extra removals staff over the summer to cover holidays and keep up with demand, but it is important for people to keep removals in mind as a priority when planning their move."
Andrew Porter Limited has been operating from its base in Chorley for almost 40 years and has its own in-house training centre, complete with mock house, where staff perfect their removals skills.
