History

Andrew Porter Ltd was established in 1973 as a removals and storage firm, originally operating with one van, based in a portable building behind the Wrightington home of founder Andrew Porter.

The business grew quickly, to become one of the largest and most well known in the North West, more recently developing specialist divisions for European and commercial moves.

Managing director Tim Aspey took the helm in 2006, overseeing a fleet of 45 vehicles and has a staff of more than 80 people. Although Andrew has stepped down from day-to-day running of the company, he still retains an active interest as chairman.

In 2016 Andrew Porter Ltd launched its specialist laboratory logistics division as a standalone company - Aport - in order to better serve clients which include blue chip companies throughout the globe.  Aport is a world-first in providing integrated laboratory relocation services that deliver fully compliant turnkey solutions across the globe.

2017 saw the launch of Self Store @ Andrew Porter Ltd - a purpose built self storage facility with more than 600 indoor units and 50 outdoor storage containers.  A host of added value features are designed to create a uniquely customer focused self storage experience.

Andrew Porter have now launched a dedicated laboratory relocation specialist, APort Global. As part of this there is now a dedicated web site where you can get all the up to date and relevant information about our laboratory relocation services.
